The Thai SELECT Symbol for the year 2022 is part of the efforts by DITP, Ministry of Commerce, in organizing a project to select ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook Thai food products and grant them with the logo.

The program responds to the policy of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Jurin Laksanawisit concerning "Thai Food, World Food", which focuses on expanding the Thai food products to the global market.

Mr. Phusit Rattanakul Sereeruengrit, Director-General at DITP, said the department has a significant mission to promote international trade and marketing in various forms to be in line with the implementation of the 20-Year National Strategy on building economic competitiveness and sustainable development.

The national policy is under the 12th National Economic and Social Development Plan, which focuses on the country's economy to grow to its potential and stability. Promoting and developing Thai food products and services play a vital role in driving the mission.

“The Thai SELECT project is important to promote and develop Thai products and food-service businesses by using the Thai SELECT Symbol as a tool to develop and promote Thai restaurants in foreign countries.

The project’s scope has been expanded to include ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook Thai food products and help raise the operators’ quality standards and develop their potential to compete in the world market but there still is in the sense of Thai food identity.

The department has continuously conducted activities to select ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook Thai food products to award the Thai SELECT Symbol every year. But due to the epidemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) this year, the event for 2021 was postponed to the year 2022 instead.

It's ready now to invite competent entrepreneurs of ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook Thai food products to apply for the Thai SELECT Symbol to strengthen their exports, raise quality standards and develop competitiveness in the world market. The invitation includes savory dishes, sweet dishes, curry paste, and dipping sauces, prepared with a mixture of ingredients typical of Thai food that indicates the uniqueness of Thai food, the taste, and appearance of Thai food standards. The application is free of charge.”

The Thai SELECT Symbol for ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook Thai food products has 3 categories: Thai Food: Ready to Serve/Ready to Eat, Thai Food: Ready to Cook, and Thai Food: Dipping Sauce.
